A Message from Pastor Kris
"This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!"  Psalm 118:24
Dear friends in Christ;
Welcome to the website of St. Marks' Lutheran Church!  We are truly blessed as a congregation of God's People who gather together for worship, education, food, fellowship, support and service to God and those around us.  Check out the various activities and photos, plus our interactive ministry calendar to learn more about what's going on at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Again, welcome in Christ's name!  We are glad you are here on our website and hope to see you soon in person at our church.  God's blessings to you and your family!
Faithfully,

   60th Anniversary Events
On our way rejoicing!
St. Mark's Lutheran Church is celebrating their 60th Anniversary in 2008. "On Our Way Rejoicing" is the theme chosen for our 60th Anniversary. We rejoice in the continuing blessing God has bestowed oupon us. We will be having a  celebration dinner on Saturday, June 14th at the new Heritage Center in Olathe. The weekend will continue Sunday morning with a combined worship service at 10:00am. Pastor John Kreidler will be the guest preacher that morning.

Members, former pastors and friends of the congregation are invited to come and share memories and fellowship on Saturday night, June 14th, at the Heritage Center on the Mahaffie farmstead. There is a minimal charge of $5.00 for each reservation and we are limited to 200 reservations. Reservations are due by Friday, June 9. Child care will be provided at the church (515 S. Ridgeview Rd.) for children 8 years old and younger. It will be staffed by adults and high school students from St. Aidan's Episcopal Church. There is a $5.00 charge per child, which will go to the St. Aidan's youth for their upcoming activities.

A blend of traditional and contemporary Sunday worship service will be at 10:00am on Sunday, June 15, at St. Mark's with Pastor John Kreidler, Assistant to the Bishop, preaching. After the worship service you are invited to the Fellowship Hall for coffee cakes, breads, drinks and conversation.

If you can offer any assistance please let the church office know: 913-764-4496 or office@stmarksolathe.org.

   This Week at St Mark's
This Sunday, May 4, at 2:00 pm St. Mark's Women of the ELCA will be having their Celebration of Motherhood. All women of St. Mark's are invited to come and share in the joy of our five new mothers. Each new mother will receive a baby quilt made by the Quilter's.

Pastor Kris will be on vacation from Wednesday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 14. If any need arises & you need pastoral care please call the church office & Nancy will contact the pastor on call.

At the April 6th Congregational Meeting it was voted on that we will go ahead and plan on building the full 16,500 square foot building, that plan includes the Sanctuary, classrooms, offices, and fellwoship hall with a larger kitchen. With that decision made we now are ready to work with the city on Olathe & are  praying to break ground in the late summer.

An Al-Anon group meeting at St. Mark's on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. Al-Anon family groups are an anonymous fellowship of families and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness and the changed attitudes can aid recovery.Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics.

  Please come and join in any of our Bible study groups or the BookMarks (the monthly book club). See the monthly calendar for days and times.  Or check out the current "Markings" for more information.
